Museums

The Nyanza Museum:

rwanda palacenyanzaThis is a historical national museum that shows the ancient royal palaces of the former Rwandan King, who died in 1959.

If you are interested in the country’s cultural aspects, there are resident traditional Intore Dancers, who stage their performances on request.

The Butare National Museum:

butare museumintore-danser

There is a very fine and elaborate collection of Rwanda’s social, cultural and historical past on the display, in the beautifully constructed museum buildings, located several kilometers from the center of Butare town.

To seal off the cultural trip into Rwanda’s culture, we recommend that you watch (and participate) the Intore traditional dancers resident at the museum.

The Genocide Memorial Sites

GisoziGenocideMemorial

In 1994, tragedy befell Rwanda when over one million people were killed in a genocide orgy., thus the genocide memorial sites scattered all over the country are a stark reminder of what happened in Rwanda, and hopefully, shall never happen again in Rwanda or, anywhere else in the world.

Our tours/visits to the genocide memorial sites are optional, and the entrance to them is free of charge.
